A dear Baptist Pastor’s wife had posted the following poem one day and I wanted to share it with you. When I read it, it really got me to thinking about my service for the Lord – as a Christian, a wife, and a mother.
I asked the Lord, “What shall I do?”
And my love flowed warm and free.
Then He pointed out a tiny spot
And said, “Tend that for me.”
I quickly replied, “Oh no, not that…
Why, no one would ever see.
No matter how well my work was done,
Not that little place for me.”
The word He spoke, it was not stern,
He answered me tenderly,…
“Ah, little one, search that heart of thine,
Are you working for them or Me?
Nazareth was a little place, and so was Galilee.”
Each and every thing we do for God is important – not matter how small we may think it may be! Our home may be a small abode, but what a large impact we as wives and mothers can make there. The things we do for others may seem like they do not make a difference, but someday they will. The church we serve in may seem small and our service for God may seem to go unnoticed. But, no place is too small and no task too insignificant to give our ALL for the One Who gave His ALL – His only begotten Son – for us! I had to stand back and reevaluate my motives after reading that poem. I am working for God, for His glory. Colossians 3:23-24 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”
Thanks for sharing, what a blessing! I might have to copy this down and keep it in my journal!
